Physical Therapy

Orthopedic physical therapy focuses on assessing the patient as a whole, rather than as a collection of individual muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, organs or systems. The majority of therapy in this office consists of osteopathic manual therapy. We also provide certain physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound, phonopheresis, or electrical stimulation, on an as needed basis.

Osteopathic manual therapy treats acute and chronic pain due to injury or somatic strain. Our office also provides treatment for headaches, arthritis, muscle imbalance, and many more conditions.

Techniques utilized include muscle energy, functional indirect, Jones strain/counterstrain, myofascial release, cranio-sacral, kineseotaping, McConnell patellofemoral taping, and therapeutic exercise.

Patient education includes a home exercise program tailored to the patient’s condition, as well as instruction regarding proper body posture and body mechanics to help prevent future injury and/or aggravation of current symptoms.

Orthopedic physical therapy is an essential tool to help restore the patient to optimal level of function through increasing strength and mobility, as well as decreasing pain. in addition, the patient gains a fuller understanding of their condition, along with appropriate tools for self management in the future.
